Blue Mound is a small village located in Macon County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,129. The village covers an area of 0.66 square miles (1.7 km²) and is situated near the intersection of Illinois Route 48 and U.S. Route 51.
Blue Mound was founded in the late 19th century as a farming community. Today, the village is home to a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The local economy is driven in part by farming, as well as by manufacturing and logistics companies.
The village is served by the Meridian Community Unit School District and is home to both Blue Mound Elementary School and Meridian High School. The village also has several parks and recreational areas, including the Blue Mound State Park, which offers camping, hiking, and fishing opportunities.
